Laurie Ann's Tips
- Be a Coupon Angel - If you are in the store
and have coupons that will soon expire and you know you will not
use them, simply lay the coupon on top of the item for someone
else that may need that very item.
- Food Surplus - Any type of frozen fruit
juice concentrate makes great jelly. You do not have to have a
pressure cooker either. You can use the water-bath canning
method and have half a dozen jellies or jams without all the
added preservatives. They make great gifts at the holidays also.
- Shopping List - Before you clear
the shopping list after a trip to the store, edit your list by
deleting all the items that you did not purchase. That will
insure the coupon counts will be reset back into
your database for your next trip. If you simply clear your list
before doing this, you will have to re-enter all the coupon
counts
that you took to the store that you did not use.
- Shopping List Reminders - During the week,
I will add items to my list as I find that I need to pick up
items. You do not have to match these up with your coupons yet.
When you are ready to start getting your coupons together for a
trip, simply pull up your list and start inserting your
coupons. This is a way to have a running list so you do not
forget any items.
- Don’t Be A Pig! - Come on Now! What on
earth are you going to do with 65 bottles of Maalox? I don’t
know about you, but if I am hungry the last thing I will do is
drink an antacid for nourishment. It will definitely give you
some more problems that you will need something else to help.
- Going to the store - After printing my
shopping list, I quickly put my coupons in order of my list.
That way, if I get to the store and they only have 3 of an item
I wanted 10 of, it is very quick to pull these out
and continue on my trip.
- Coupon Binder - Always, Always take your coupon binder with
you even though you have your coupons stacked with your
coupon-tracker shopping list. There is nothing more
heart-breaking to get to the store and find out that they have
marked a great item down to almost nothing and you remembered that
you have (6) $1.00 off coupons at home that would get this for
you free.
- Clearance - Never go into a store without making a quick run
through there clearance aisle. This is another way to pick up
some free items that you may use now or later.
- Printers - If you are going to purchase a
home printer to use for printing coupons from on-line sources,
be sure to look for a printer that you will get up to a 1,000
sheets per cartridge opposed to a couple hundred. The printer
may be more expensive but you will not have to purchase ink
toner nearly as much as you would with a cheaper printer.
